Hey,
As I was downloading a file, I was previewing it with one of my programs. But then all of a sudden I couldn't preview tha video past a certain point anymore. It would just stop. Even though I've downloaded alot more of tha video, I still can't preview past that point. And I started to get messages in Limewire saying that the file was broken or corrupt or something. What happened? And don't tell me I have to download tha whole thing from scratch again! This file took so long to download. |

That can happen because LW does not necessarily download the file sequentially. So you may be missing a middle part (bits or bytes) that prevent you previewing beyond that point. But the fact you received error messages ... I'm not sure. Were the error messages coming from LW or from your video player? Corrupt doesn't necessarily mean the file is bad. When you downld a file, you initially download the hash of the file which has certain details of the file. LW will verify the original hash with the downld file to check it's the same. If not, it will give a corrupt message. But, the difference could be due to a few reasons. eg: the host changed the filename or changed the file description.
I'd suggest continuing with the downld & hope the best.

Oh I see......Yea, I was thinking it was probably due to it missing a certain part, like a middle part...............Now that I think of it, I think I started recieving error messages even before that file started acting like that. But that file still acted normally even though I had gotten those messages. Those error messages were coming from LW...............Yea, corrupt could just mean that it has a problem or an error. Yea, that's very true.
Thanks alot for telling me all this! And explaining it in detail! That's good info. Quote:
