When I first downloaded the new version it wouldn't connect. Now my connection is fine but i cant download. i can now search for things but when i double click them the download at the bottom of the screen always says connectiong. Whats wierder is sometimes only CERTAIN things can download. But thats like one or two things that you dont even want. Everything else won't download and my connection is fine. What do I do?

Sounds like fake files! Use the forum search to look for fake files, fakes or how to find music.

I dont think it is because everything is doing this. only one or two things aren't. this never happened before and it wouldn't make sense if all the files are fake.

Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's closed. See points 2 & 3 below
Fixes for LimeWire

I mentioned the fakes issue because they typically sit connecting for ages & then go straight to 'need more sources'. Plus, we're seeing more & more of them on the network now. See if deleting the prefs folder helps.

this is wierd. it let me download a magnetmix thing. when i played it it said error downloding codec. i tried downloading a song again but whenever i do it this always comes up:
LimeWire is unable to find a license for this file.
Download anyway?

When I click yes, the download comes up at the bottom of the screen. But all it does is say connecting forever.

i cant fine lime wire preferences. is it called something else?

If you're using Windows, it could be C:\Documents and Settings\your name\.limewire (if you've been using older versions)
or, the new location is C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\LimeWire. Remember it's a hidden folder, so you'll have to show hidden files & folders to see it.

If you're using a Mac, it should be in /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

What's your connection like (how many green bars)?

If you delete that preferences folder, it will revert all your options settings back to default. You'll have to go back through & reset things afterwards, then you can change your answer regarding licenses if you want to.

what is the stub installer?

I think I found the preference folder. it has the folders .Networkshare, themes, and xml. It also has a bunch of files. Should I delete all of this?
