Okay, I poked around more in these forums and tried the "revert to default" and "slots is 1 or larger" solutions, then went back and tried to download and ureeka!, it's working. Any idea, though, why my "Library" got cleared out? I found the files within my c/drive, but still curious why the library took a dive? Any ideas?

OK dancski here's the likely deal ... if you had originally had your library time limit of days to keep unfinished files at a time of more than 7 days, when you reverted to default it reset that back to the 7 day limit and the files were purged. That seems to be one of the biggest problems with using the "revert to default" feature. Anything older than 7 days goes bye-bye. In the future you can avoid that by first moving your unfinished files to another location unrelated to limewire and then and only then use the "revert to default" option in the tools.

To save you a little bit of time with dealing with comcast, comcast's basic hi-speed internet allows for a maximum of 4MB in both upload and download speeds. They do not limit p2p applications or put a squeeze on the bandwidth when you're using p2p programs. There is also no monthly limit as to how much you can download or upload. Hopefully this will save you an hour or two in dealing with the fine folks at comcast .. I spent about 2 hours with the tech people on the phone last week while they tried to find answers to those relatively simple questions. Good help is hard to find apparently.

I tried to download previous versions of limewire but my limewire still will not download. Do you think it has anything with the port fowarding I attempted?

Lord of the Rings December 7th, 2006 03:15 PM

Possibly. Actually I didn't realise you port forwarded. The most important step is the 1st step & that's often where people make mistakes; ie: setting up a static ip. Without a static ip set up "before" the port forwarding, then the entire process was a waste of time. I've heard it's also better to do a separate port forward for each of TCP & UDP, as compared to doing one for both in a single port forward. Two options to get passed the linksys nat firewall is to either enable UPnP or port forward. (port forwarding instructions here http://portforward.com/routers.htm ) Else see the connection problems link above under UPnP section about how to enable UPnP. I don't know how good your model is re: UPnP

But before you do this, try this ... make a note of any important settings in your options & then delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Next time you open LW you will need to reset all your option settings such as days to keep incomplete files to a large number. Also under advanced>firewall settings set it to manual port forward or UPnP whichever you set your linksys for.

See how the connection goes, & then try downlding a magnet link from here http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & tell us what happens. ;)
