Searching problems!

Every time I try to search for songs, a box comes up saying that limewire is currently connecting to the network, and that my search may not return many results until it is fully connected. I have been able to download some songs, but a lot don't come up. For example, I typed in really common artists like ****** and *******, and there were no results for them. There's a block in front of the globe at the bottom which i know means that there's a firewall, but that stayed even after i turned off my anti-virus programme, and I don't see how I'd be able to download any songs at all if it was being blocked by a firewall. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I'd really appreciate any advice!!
