Unhappy i was downloading fast.....

hi i was downloading before @200 KBs i didnt change anything whats wrong? i do not see a brick wall in front of the globe. its going no more than 70 KBs now. speed test shows that i can download @764 kbs any suggestions i have
windows xp home edition
norton- its configured properly
256 ram
30% frree space
dsl-verizon
modem-westell 6100- configured also
connecting from home
limewire version-4.12.6 java 1.5._09
test works
no sharing
new problem somewhat experienced

There might be a possible corruption of the LW preference folder. You can try and delete it to see whether that will bring any changes.
Read here on how to delete this folder (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire)

Afterwards reboot your computer.

Another possibility is that you ISP has started to shape your bandweidth usage.

Well, if resetting your router (as a last option) doesn't have any effect, then the terms of Verizon applied to their wireless contracts have been silently extended to your service.

what should the average speed be? would this not be dependant on other's internet connection? mine is about 40 KB/s, for all downloads so far
