Default Fake Files

I seem to be having as much problem with fake files as a lot of other people on this forum, I've read all the posts I can find on the subject including the much quoted one from "Lord of the Rings" but I don't see any explination of WHY there are these files, if they are created by "Spammers" how does it benefit them if you try to download something and eventually give up because all you get is: Connecting/Awaiting Scources or Need More Scources. I'm not talking about the porn site links or the strange bloke with the worst Bill Clinton accent I've ever heard (why Bill Clinton anyway) ?
Sorry if I'm being a bit "Tom and Dick" but I don't see the point in it.

Regards, Donski.

Their planted there to frustrate people who like to download copyrighted material and the spammers responsible would be the record company's and the studio's....
Just like the viruses that are planted in program files, their planted there by the software company's...

Wondering, thanks for the reply, you've confirmed what I suspected although "Spammers" is not the word I'd choose to call them !!
Not having the slightest idea of how Limewire works (in a software sense), would it not be possible to police these types of files at regular intervals, OK I know they will only appear again but assume the "spammers" would soon get fed up if they were'nt winning.

Regards, Donski.

We can't regulate the spam files any more than we can regulate the files that you share from your computer.

Most LW users learn to differentiate between good files and bad files...after a little trial and error, reading the forums, etc.

The thing is, many people post on the forums stating that they are giving up LW because it's too much of a hassle...files won't download...files aren't good quality...files aren't what they say...as long as people are deterred from using LW, spammers will continue to spam.

It doesn't take very long, however, to learn how to avoid spam. Read the forum threads. Use Limewire's filters. Know what you're looking for, i.e. what size file you should be expecting.

I personally don't think that frustration will cause the spammers to stop. They'll probably keep coming up with new ways to spam, just as we will keep coming up with new ways to avoid it.

Good Luck
