Default Download multiple files = no internet!!!

This happens a very high % of the time. I'll try to download more then 1 file- movies and they'll start downloading. Then the 'speed' of all the files slowly drops and then gets to 0. Then my internet stops working. If I unplug and replug my router back into my pc the downloads resume for like 20+ seconds. After many times of unplugging and replugging my router, my pc sometimes freezes and when i do ctrl+alt+del i get : 'msgsrv32 [not responding]'. help!!

Who is your internet service provider?

What brand & model of modem/router do you have?

Try downlding just a single file from here: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml
Make sure you're only downlding one file at the time (pause others if necessary.) And tell us what happens. Does the speed remain consistent? Do you lose connection?

Default Same thing happens to me

but it will restart automatically if I wait a minute or so. I have double T1's connectred directly to a large datacenter. That's not the problem. I'm also running Win 2003 (not sure if that could be an issue).

I've learned to just leave my simultaneous downloads set to 1 and let the multiple files queue up and download one at a time

Does anyone know why this happens? It's a bit frustrating

Some other things to try here

If you don't want to try Java 1.6, try the JRE offline installer here. Remove your current Java version before you install the new one.

Default No help

Thanks for the suggestions but none of that helped. There is clearly something in this program that is causing serious disruptions in TCP traffic in and out of this workstation. There's no software firewall, there's no errors or blocks being reported on the hardware firewall (Cisco PIX 501). I'm using the latest java engine and latest Limewire Pro. When the connection drops it brings down all communication for the PC, including other processes running TCP across the intranet or internet. I've tried three different versions of Limewire, including the PRO. Same results occur when trying to download 2 or more files simultaneously (up for 2 minutes, down for 1 minute, up for 2 minutes, etc.)

I can't imagine I'm the only one who experiences this. The only thing I can think is that Limewire is not compatible with Windows 2003 server. I suspect that OS is not commonly used. I'll have to try it on another PC running XP and report back what I find.

Default Update

I uninstalled 4.12 and put on the 4.13 beta. Things are working better now. Unfortunately, I can't say whether fully uninstalling/reinstalling made the difference OR if it was the move to 4.13.

Thanks for the help

Good to hear. It is possibly the version. For a few people one version just doesn't behave as well as the next or previous version. And for a few others it's the opposing versions that work or don't work well. lol
