ipod not uploading new songs in my itunes.

sorry to get into this, but i'm new and don't know how to post a message of my own.
my ipod video isn't uploading any of the new songs i transferred from my music to itunes, but i can still listen to it on itunes but it's not in the ipod. i would sync it and everything but when it's done, my Recently Added playlist has nothing in it. help please!
