mp3 BIG problem plz help

i have a crappy flash mp3 player that i got from a relative.... i downloaded a couple songs on limewire and put them on my mp3. then the next day i downloaded some more and wen i went to put them on my mp3 an error message comes up and says

unable to copy file
this file is write protected
remove the write protection or use a different disc



and now it does that for all the songs i try to put on PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ HELP!!!!

Thanks for the email, if your MP3 is in working order then there is no problem, you have to be more selective in your choice of MP3s. Especially now LW has a facility that will show you whether there is a license attached to your selection, see my screen print below.

Now, when a license MP3 shows up you can ignore it.

Unfortunately some people share files that have been purchased online & are unable to be played by anybody else. So be aware of that.

Such files are DRM protected, meaning the person who purchased them, purchased them with "limited" permissions of use of them.

Best advice to people who do purchase online but wish to share their files -> Burn to a cd or cd-rw. Then extract them ... and share. BUT PLEASE say whether you have since converted them to any format such as mp3, m4a, etc. that you previously purchased them ... otherwise people will receive a lessor quality file for what they might think they are getting since online music is always lossy ... quality reduced due to converting to a smaller file for downloading online. You have the option to do this in the description or comments of the id3 tag of the song file.

ie: you can do this within LW by going to LW Library window, selecting shared file, press Describe button.
