 Have you tried defragmenting the usb drive? The disk problem's a weird one & sad to say but some people have never been able to fix it  Sorry, but downloading to an external drive was what fixed it for me (even though I had heaps of space left on my C drive) Have a look at the thread below...there are more links to follow within that, one of them might help you??
