Problems Downloading
 

Hi, I have problems downloading on lw. My internet connection isnt the problem (i have wireless), as i am writing this right now. But for some reason, after i type in my search ad hit enter, nothing comes up. i even tried searching popular bands (that i knew there was some songs for), and nothing came up. the bar that the search query was in filled up, and still nothing. any tips?

Try this....
Go to Tools > Options > Searching > Lisence Warning and make sure the box is not ticked and select apply...

If that does not help try going to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it...
Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more...
(try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...) ;)

Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply...

Try installing PeerGuardian, it will help keep the fake hosts out...Remember to enable PG just before you start limewire up...;)

I am having the eact same problem. There are no details. Everything is set up correctly. Everything that should be checked or not checked is correct. But when I search for a song or artist the search completes with NO RESULTS!!! I WISH i never updated to this version of Limewire because I never had any problems before.

Try deleting your preference folder/s ...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;)

It means the port is not blocked that LW is connecting through. Nice speeds. Roughly 440 KB/s download & 53 KB/s upload. Not sure what your speed setting is but I'd recommend a T3 setting. But if you do it will mean your minimum upload setting will be a little more that you have. But that's ok if that's ok with you. I recommend it because you will be able to download from more hosts per file.
Go to LW's Preferences (keyboard shortcut: ⌘ ,) -> Advanced -> Performance & disable Ultrapeer capabilities.

Thanks so much... I did everything I was told to... I deleted both folders the .limewire and the lime folder in application data. But now when I try to search for music... I get a message saying that "limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network"
But i AM connected to the network, so I dont understand. And again it goes through a FULL search and comes up with no results.
What do I do now?

FYI Birdy... I didnt mention the connection b/c it IS connected. I have full bars... and that wasnt the error until I did all the steps above!

I also downloaded Morpheus to see if it worked... and I get the same error - it says its not connected (even tho I am online and on AIM at the same time)...

What is the model number for your Linksys wireless G broadband router ??

the router model # is WRT54G ver.6

the test said... "your test worked"

and i meant... that I AM connected to the internet because I was online and on AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and I have to be connected to the internet if Im using those programs... so why would limewire/morpheus say im not connected???

Ok here's a few things to try...

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....

Also try Port Forwarding...these are the instructions for the wrt54gv5, that's all the port forwarding site had, but it should be just about the same...

Do you have AOL security at all ??

Make note that the wrt54 model of linksys was a "lemon", in that it had firmware problems that the company never bothered to fix (yes most of their other devices are of the highest quality!) As WW suggested, at least port forward is the best bet. The WRT otherwise gives unreliable performance, dropping out unexpectantly, etc. To find out more, see WRT654G listed under UPnP heading > Linksys, part of way down this page -> Connection problems? ok- I uninstalled Java and then reinstalled it. I tried to do the port fowarding, but to be honest, im not paying $35 if I dont know for sure if it will work. But the Java didnt help... still searches for songs and has no results. Says still... Limewire is currently connecting to the network... your search may not return with many results until you are fully connected to the network.
How come this never happened with the old version of Limewire?
