video to dvd problem

Box, AVI Files are the Safest (imho) and the files that I prefer. I have never downloaded anything other than AVI Files for Video.
You can take a look at what I use and have never had a problem converting and burning.

AVSMedia I use the Audio Tools, Video Tools, and DVD Copy

Thanks for your advice we are using 'ConvertXtoDVD' but when trying to convert, it comes back with a message ' This file is not supported or not an A/V file'. I know that the file I downloaded was avi format. Any ideas ?

Read my post above #6. Bitzi??, Fake Files?? I have never come across any errors or problems when using Bitzi and the said Media Program above.

Hello everyone I'm new to the list and I'm having problems with dvdsanta. I can convert my avi files to dvd format everything seems to be ok up until I want to burn my new dvd. When I press burn I get this error message "cannot retrieve disk information or the disk is not blank" when I press ok dvdsanta crashes. Can anyone help???

Sounds like disk burner drive problems myself. ie: the disk burner drive is either not installed properly or is near its last days.
Have you tried burning an audio disk with this disk burner drive recently? Try it with a CD-RW & see if it works ok simply as a test.

What I meant by not installed properly is the drive is not properly wired (loosely connected wires / cable connector) or the drive is out of position. I guess there's a small chance this may also have occurred if the computer was moved & heavily knocked in recent times.

Disk burner drives that are used frequently only last 2-3 years before they come to a relatively quick death as soon as they start showing dying symptoms. The *laser* reader & burner simply wears out. Almost like a light globe. Lasers are in many ways basically a light globe.

Another thought is, have you tried cleaning the drive with a cleaning device. You should clean them periodically.

And yes, I've seen your symptoms before myself, it was the drive at fault. Either device died or device connection issue, etc. But dirty drive also in some cases. lol

HP 62345n Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40GHZ 4GB Ram 32bit system.
Lightscribe DVD Super Multi drive/ CD writer HL-DT-ST-DVD-RW-GSA-H60L-ATA device. I have tried burning audo files with my CD and they seem to be fine. I think that I have all the up to date codexes and such but I'm new to this so maybe not? Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried your suggestion and burned an audo cd and it burned just fine. I have not used my burner very much maybe 20 or 30 times at most but it is about five years old Thanks for replying any help is greatly appreciated!

this might be some sort of driver conflict issue...

go to google and type in "name of your burner (brand and model) conflict with dvdsanta)

Make sure that dvdsanta is set to the right drive.
