I think you probably made a mistake or two:

First things first, the files you downloaded are in MP3 format, i.e. Song Title.mp3 , so if you do a "straight record" your car CD player will not be able to play the resultant CD.

You have to insure that your burning software converts your MP3 files to CDA (CD Audio) files, then your car CD player will be able to play your recorded CDs.
