Add/Remove control panel is not the way to uninstall LW. It only causes problems when you do that due to a different type of installer it uses. The normal way is start menu > all programs > LW > Uninstall. But it's probably too late now.

Get this program CCleaner - Home to help clean up the system. Also delete your LW prefs folder: instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Then try installing LW again using the "Offline" installer version, not the recommended version. If that doesn't work, then get this version: Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!
