Default avi files - audio volume problems

On several avi files I have downloaded, when subsequently playing, the audio volume is so low it can hardly be heard. I have checked player (GOM) audio controls and also system (vista business) but no better - any suggestions?
Thanks

Try using another player. VLC media player is the one we recommend, it has the codecs built in and will play most file types.

You may need to d/load some codecs for your player. See: CODECs list for Movies/Alternate players / Video help forums/ video-mp3 fixers

It could be the video itself. See if you can find another one and check the files with Bitzi before d/loading. How to use Bitzi Web Lookup

a fair number of current/recent releases are this way..when converted to DVD format one has to crank the TV volume all the way...its just the way it is...
