I uninstalled Limewire. Everytime I click on a torrent file from a site like
say dimeadozen.org I get opening "such and such file" which is a "Limewire Torrent". I want it to be a "Utorrent torrent." Sure I can open it with Utorrent and it works but it still has limewire as a default setting to open it with. Why do I have resin of Limewire still working and on my computer when I unstalled the program and deleted all the files. Also, if I save the torrent address, it becomes a limewire torrent as well. Help. Very frustrating considering it started Limewire as my torrent manager without my permission. Help. |

The problem is almost gone. It still says "which is a Limewire torrent" but saves the file as a Utorrent extension. So the problem is effectively gone
but I'm still getting the message. Any reason why? I can live with it but it is still moderately annoying. |

Not sure, try clearing your browser cache.

Limewire still takes over torrent association once you turn it on tho. It's how the program is designed I think. I tried associating torrent files to Utorrent from Windows and it would work till I used Limewire again.

Which icon do the torrent files show, LW icon or uTorrent. And if you get information for the file, which program does it say will open it?
When you change the default to open the file, you need to choose the option to change for all files of same kind. |

It shows the Utorrent icon when I got to the Association file setting window.

wow that's odd. Are you only having problems with old ones that LW started to use, or new torrent files also?
I'd suggest going into LW, Tools > Options > Bittorrents, and disabling all torrent options. |

All new torrents. I disabled the torrent features too in LW. I'm using LW pro by the way and Vista if that makes a difference.

I'm puzzled. It's not something I've experienced but I use mainly Mac OSX. 6_pac or someone else might have some suggestions. I am aware windows programs can be default hungry. lol
