Saves in wrong format....

I can't figure out why when I download a video from Limewire (such as in .mpg ) after the download is complete it saves it in a FILE type instead of in a regular video file. any ideas. im lost. i never had this problem till now. i have an Acer Aspire 3620. thanks

Please tell us what the file extension name was supposed to be when you selected the file to download and what was the resulting file extension name ???

when i download from LIMEWIRE i choose the videos in .mpg format when i finish downloading i believe my computer use to automatically choose .wmv if im not mistaken. i dont have any on the computer at this time to double check. when LIMEWIRE finishes the download it saves it as a .FILE i can still play the video after i choose a player from a list. but i cant do anything else with it such as put it on my .MP3 player or the such cuz of the file format it puts it in. thanks.
