Slow downloads? on anything other than music

I bought limewire pro and have a 12mb DL broadband connection. Yet my downloads are less than 100kb/s? WHy am I not seeing 12mb downloads? I see music files go up to 200-300kb/s sometimes but never anything else especially games or software. WHy? And trying to use bittotorent is easy to start a download but it kreeps along at like 1-10kb/s

Can anyone help me out? Please?
