Default Having so much trouble......PLZ HELP ME!!!!

Ok, so i am seriously about to smash my computer!!! I have recently downloaded the newer version of Limewire and it was all working fine. So i go to download a few more songs the other day and it kept coming up wiht a message that says Limewire is currently trying to connect with the network and you may not get many results (or something like that) so i pressed ok and typed in a search and as it was searching, nothing come up on my screen in the results window. The search was going (the turning blue part), but nothing showing. So ok, i went out of Limewire and went back into it and it kept coming up with a Limewire setup wizard. I did that and again, the same message about the connection. So i went out of it and into it about 3 times and STILL come up with the setup wizard and connection prob. So ok, i took it off my computer totally and re-downloaded it and it was ok. I thought finally, i have it back.....how wrong i was!!!! Now, it is not showing the results of the searches again. The search is happening (the blue part....i hope you no what i mean by that), but nothing in my results window. So i am at my wits end and am getting fed up. Can someone PLEASE help me with this and tell me why it is doing this all of a sudden? My mum downloaded the same thing and has had no probs at all, but i seem to be having all the probs. Any help would be so gratefully appreciated!!!

Please provide these details as well as tellingus whether you and your mom are using the same internet connection.

If you are usingthe same connection then start comparing settings, version numbers, protective apps etc. on both computers. That way you may find the culprit easily.

Ok, i have some more details.....sorry about that. I guess it can be hard to try and help someone when you have no idea on anything!!!
Ok, i am using Windows XP, i have broadband, i'm connecting from my house, my Limewire version is 4.16.7 and Java is 1.6.0_01. I don't know what a firewall is (not up with all the technical side of things....sorry), not sure about how much ram i have or my hard disc space, Telstra is my provider, the test worked, no i'm not sharing the connection, its a new problem with an experienced user, YES there is a brickwall (?) and my antivirus is AVG 8.0.
I hope this helps out. The thing is, it was all working fine before, no probs at all and then one day i turned my computer on and it just didn't want to work and thats when i had to download it all again and then it was ok and now it just doesn't want to show the search results.
Thanks again for any help.

I've used System Restore under Help in the Start menu and gone back to when it was working correctly.

A lot of these guys like to trouble shoot this stuff and thats fun and worthwhile but not if you're just "User friendly". Sometimes the damn things aren't friendly are they?

I've used "Windows Install Clean UP" to get rid of stuff but I'm not sure if it will work on non Windows written programs. Google it.

OK first try replacing the gnutella.net file and if that doesn't work then try deleting the preference folder. More info on that here:

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

If that doesn't work then uninstall your version and try installing the older version in my signature.
