yea... well i have Limewire Pro 4.17.1 and i'm trying to download a file... any file... i search for it... the files are listed with the number of users blah blah blah...

I click on the file... selected download... it says can't find lisence download anyways... yes no cancel... i click yes... then it says You are already downloading that file...

Ok here's the thing... i think there is a glitch... i tried the lisence thing that Lord of The Rings suggested on multiple forum posts... didn't work....

i look at the bottom of the window... it says 1 @ 0kbps... i was like WTF... so i bring up the downloads pane at the bottom and guess what... there is NO downloads there... NONE!.... i cleared my incomplete folder... formatted the hard drive etc etc...

I'm downloading to an internal hard drive that is a slave... it's 40 gb btw if that matters...

I need to download this song... couple of songs... for tomorrow morning so i desperately need some help on this....

Multiple postings will not get you faster results.

Yeah, the license thing. I guess you're not worried copyright at the moment. So click yes.

Some downloads occur at less than 1kbps (busy hosts, poor/slow connections, etc).

Right-click on the tab that appears at the top of the search results window, (the tab that lists the keyword you searched for), and select 'get more results'. You can download multiple copies of the same song, just select 'append number' if a dialog box appears. Keep whatever comes in first.

The more you are able to calmly describe your problem, the more likely one of us will be able to help you. Hang in there; we'll try to figure this out tonight.

ok uh.... the download that i'm trying to download doesn't show up at ALL.... thats the problem... i'm assuming it has to do with the mysterious download that isn't there.... and it's not asking whether or not i want to append the file or not... so that don't work... and the get more results i don't get where that comes in

When you say it doesn't show up at all, do you mean in the search results window?

If you were downloading at 0kpbs, LW thinks you're actually getting the file. Hence, "you are already downloading the file" (an exact copy). If it's a different copy with the same filename, you get the choice to change name, append #, etc.

Seems to me that you are impatient to get the file. If it's not showing up in search results (which is where the "get more results" comes in), then you might try closing LW completely, and the restarting it, search again. You'll be hooked up with different peers - who may have the file you want.

If that fails you should try a torrent search. LW will handle the dl for you. Search torrent sites, find your songs, click 'download this torrent', when dialog box appears choose 'open'. The filename will then appear in your LW downloading box. Remember, more seeds = faster downloads. LW will manage 3 or 4 torrents at the same time.

I told you that multiple postings will not get you faster results. They do, however, flood my mailbox (while I was responding to a neighbor's medical emergency - I'm an EMT). So which one of us sucks? Send me another "bump" or other useless message and you can forget about help from me.
