Trouble in search mode

Ive been using limewire for a while and just recently when i type an artist or anything in search it always comes up empty. I tried deleting the whole program and downloading it again and it still always comes up empty on all searches. Is there something im doing wrong or what do i need to do to fix it. Help anyone this is getting frustrating

Me too

I'm having the same problem. I'm looking forward to seeing what answers your post generates.

Nothing has changed on my computer. It was working for a while then suddenly I get no results when I search, no matter what it is I search for. Sys specs Windows XP, Windows Firewall with Limewire allowed, Linksys Wireless card and router. What configuration setting should I verify?

Hey JabMan

JabMan, have you tried any of these fixes. I found this reply from Birdy on another thread about the same problem. I just couldn't get #2 to link. I'm going to give them a try when I get home from work.

Is your LW connected properly (all green/blue connection bars)? If LW's connected, try the fixes below.

1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference.

2. Problems with the search

3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within LW's options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things to the way you like them.

If LW's not connected, try the fixes here.
If LW Will Not Connect
If nothing there helps, post back with your system detailshttp://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...lies/smile.gif

The orange warning banner with the padlock was originally added because there was a bogus LW update showing up in search results & if people downloaded it, they could end up infected. To try to prevent people from downloading a dangerous file, the warning banner was added.

Now, if you click on the banner it seems to warn you of a security problem & tell you that you need to update...heaps of people have been having trouble with the update so I'd say don't do ithttp://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...ies/tongue.gif Use the forum search to look for update to see the problems that people are having.

Hey all, I did delete the hosts and let the system add new ones and this corrected the problem. However, it will not let me add the specified IP addresses to the filter list. When I try to enter something my computer "grunts" at me (you know, the sound it makes when it wants to alert you of something :p) and doesn't do anything.

You can ban particular ultrapeer hosts. Next time you open LW it will find new ones if not immediately you remove any.

May I ask who your ISP is?

How many green bars do you see in the bars at bottom left of screen or are they red? (see image below for example)

THis won't block all but a lot, Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results but then he may notice & change it back. Obviously more words you could add to the list yourself. There's also a setting in LW options to disallow mature content, but not sure how effective it is. :)

If it's pictures he is downloading then you could add extensions to the word filter such as .jpg, .gif, .png, etc. For videos ... well ... .mpg, .avi, .mov, etc.
