It's a problem with the newest version of iTunes 7.7. Recommendation is to remove it & reinstall an older version of iTunes if you still have such an installer. For mac users see the mac section about how to get one. Windows users, my version would be a bit too old at a guess. O.o

So any version of iTunes prior to 7.7 should work ok.

Question itunes problems

Thanks a lot for the reply. I had a sneaking suspicion that that was the culprit. If I delete my version of itunes and re-install an older version, will I lose my library? Thanks again in advance.

Depends how much older the iTunes version is. Any other version 7.x should be fine. Earlier I'm not sure, might cause some problems. In any case, even if it does cause issues & won't load the previous library, you won't lose the songs themselves because they will be in the iTunes Music Library folders. So in that scenario, you'd drop the library song files/folders back onto iTunes Library icon at top of the program to reload them.

However I believe you won't have any problems if a recent version of iTunes.

Default Limewire and 7.7 itunes

It seems that itunes won't allow shared music from limewire. I tried to delete the 7.1 itunes and install an older version but it won't allow that!
Something about the files were created with a newer version so I can't use an older one. Unless someone has an idea, limewire is of no use to me. Any thoughts?

Well it shouldn't make any difference. After all, it's simply that iTunes will not allowed the shared library. But the songs, if they are proper song files & not viruses or corrupted, will import to iTunes. I have tested that part out. On the mac, songs still auto import.

To add songs to iTunes, see How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) {click on link}
