Hi all - I am unable to lookup any files with Bitzi - was working fine a few weeks ago until I upgraded to the lastest version of Limewire - now when I click the option nothing happens - anyone else having the same problem ? Don't know if there is a problem with the Bitzi site or if the upgrade has changed some of the settings in my PC

It seems to be working fine for me however I'm using LW 4.16 at present.

Are you able to access the Bitzi site? Bitzi

You 'might' have changed popup windows options on your pc with your browser.

It should open in your default browser. Are you using any kind of security program that might be blocking the bitzi site?.........Peerguardian2??

Thanks a million - that worked - no problem now.
I wonder what changed the settings though ?
I am the only person using this PC.
Weird.
Thanks again

The Bitzi site has been known to go down now & again.

Other thought is ... sometimes if LW has been extremely busy & on for a long time, 'a few' of its functions become slow to work .. or in some cases not work (at least on Mac OSX, not sure about windows.)

Thanks for the comment.
I have also noticed that LW can slow down the more downloads you have in progress - is this normal or is my PC maybe past it's sell by date ?
Must admit I know as much about PC's as I do about neuro surgery (and that's zilch) , however the more I hop back and forth between LW and Bitzi the slower my PC seems to function , and quite often LW freezes up completely for a couple of minutes.

Neuro surgery .. cannibalistic techniques lmao

Java is usually the main problem. It is not super reliable at giving up memory it uses. So obviously the later the version of Java you use, the better. Obviously both LW & your browser use Java ... so the messages between & storage of memory between them must be adding up at a guess.

What helps use up memory? The worst offender is too many incompletes (many shares can also add to it however only if over 1,000), and search tabs. So I'd suggest these things to help reduce 'some' memory use:

* Periodically, Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link)

* Set both uplds & downlds to autoclear.

* Close search tabs some time after you have done a fresh search, don't have too many up at one time.

* Close all LW windows you don't need open at that time. eg: Connections window.

* Don't use the Resume/Find Sources option often or perhaps even at all, that is a known memory user.

* OOB searching can apparently add to memory use too, you find this under Speed settings.

* Performance options under Advanced settings, all these add to memory use & are not required.
