oops .. that site is not working again. It sometimes doesn't work properly.

can you have hidden firewall put on your computor if so how do I find it ?

writerchic831 September 29th, 2008 12:11 PM

On mine, I engage limewire and the firewall pops up. But once I come here, sign in and post a question then go back to limewire....the firewall is gone and it's working fine. Do I need to sign in someplace? I've never had to before. In fact I have no idea if there is even a name or screen name attached to my limewire.

Thanks
Debbi

This is simply a help forum. There is no name attached to using LimeWire. :)

Remember, when you use LimeWire, you connect to other users like yourself, not via a website or server. :)

How very strange. I'm afraid to turn it off. LOL. If I do I may never get it back.

Thanks again for your help.

I am going to try this one again before I delete limewire its driving me crazy ive been trying for 4 days to fix this problem but without any success

My setup

windows xp

windows firewall which I turn off but the firewall sign is still in front of the world sign. I did have norton firewall but Ive removed it because I thought this was the problem. I have also allowed limewire in my firewall windows settings.

my provider is aol

my rooter is wireless netgear 54 mbps adsl Dg834g v3

I have 2 hard drives one reads 95% free the other is 45% free
I have a sony vaio computor pentium 3.19ghz 512 mb ram

conection is from my home

aol virus checker

the only firewall i have is windows which does not make any change to L/M when i turn it off
Version limewire pro 4.9.33 java 1.6.0._07

i did have norton but i have deleted it

My limewire has worked fine for a few years without problem then all at once its stop downloading the speed is reading 0 although the turbo charged lights are displayed. I don't understand why the firewall wall is displayed when I have turned it off in my windows settings.? could this be the problem. i can still download but it takes 45 mins to download 1 tune.

Any ideas ? is there a wizzard fix you can download for limewire?

HELP!! please

DO YOU NEED ANYMORE INFO ?

THANK YOU

Like I said before, the firewall could be within your router. Looks like your router has a firewall: http://www.dsl-warehouse.com.au/p/dg834g
Did you try enabling UPnP within the router & then using the UPnP option within LW???

Did you try any other ports in the range that I mentioned before?

Here are instructions for port forwarding: Port Forwarding for the Netgear DG834G
There are no instructions for the v3, but the ones above should be fine.

You'll need to set up a static IP address first, there are instructions within that port forwarding link. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router's setup should all be the same number.

Setting up Static ip :) Which MUST be done first before port forwarding, else the process won't work.
