Lord of the Rings has a distinguished reputation

To know where your downloads go, go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Files -> Categories option. You can change the location from there.

After downloading files, you should be able to see them in your Library.

To check your Download progress, the Tools -> Downloads, window. You can also click at top right of Downloads window to categorize them so all actively downloading files show at the top of the page.
