when i try to download a song it wont start downloading. did i install wrong? or is it my comp?

Is your LW connected to the gnutella network? To check see if you have 5 green bars at bottom left corner of LW's window.

i waited till i had all the bars and i still cant download. i can find the song i wants but i cant actually download.

What happens? You select the file from search results, press Download button, then what? Does the file then go into the Download window? If yes, what does it do?

You do need to be aware of fake & junk spammed files; learn to recognise these file sizes & not touch them: Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see)

This is something similar to what is happening to me. I click on the download and I get an error message.
The box reads: Sorry, there was a problem downloading your file.

That is all the box says, I don't know how to fix it. I have tried different songs, and that just doesn't work!

Have you turned off the licensing option in Options? See the options here License requirement (click on link). If using LW 5, see the lower image in post #4.

yes i have turned off the licensing thing. I'm honestly about ready to just give up. Not to sure what else to do...

Try deleting your LW preferences folder whilst LW is CLOSED, see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post183932 This 'might' help. But make a note of important settings, once you start LW again you will need to reset them.
