Default java 1.4.0 incompatible?

When trying to download the newest Limewire, it tries to install java 1.3.2. Shouldn't it recognize that 1.4 does the same thing? How can I get it to override the preferece before installing. I'm using Windows (GASP!) XP. Thanks.

This has been covered, but...

Either download the latest version without the Java installer... or...

Go into your registry, and at...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Javasoft\RunTime Environment

There are keys that say 1.4 and 1.40, make a 1.32 key and add all the same entries (only 3) as in the 1.4 key, and you're all set.

P.S. Yeah, they could fix the installer. Sometimes I wonder what these guys DO modify from build to build. (*wink*)

They use Installshield wich relies on Windows Installer technology .

I think that about covers it .
