downloaded movies cycle scene

I downloaded several movies, all of which only cycle the beginning scene. The files were anywhere from 30MB to 750MB, but doesn't seem to be the complete movie. When I play it, it keeps cycling a 10 second stretch all throughout the video. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting that needs to be changed? Someone please help if you know the answer to this.
