Yes I too was suckered in. Paid for Frostwire for my daughter's PC then found they were scamming $5 a month from me.
Their 'helpline' too is a scam - huge call charges followed by a greasy toe rag who kept asking me to repeat every letter, one by one, of my name and e-mail addres, put me on hold, repeated the questions blah blah then wanted all my credit card details...
I've reported it to my bank.

Spread the word mp3musichq is a very glossy scam!

Frostwire Scam

Thanks to all of you I was able to get my refund of $40.71. I was within my 7 days to receive a refund and I happened on to your site. I read your notes and decided to see if I could get my money back. I first called their 1-800 support line and didn't get through - just a hang-up. I then called my credit card company and asked them to put in a duspute - just like you said. I decided to try to call them ('MP3MusicHQ.COM') again and I did get through to "Liz". I explained that I was unhappy with the product, that it wasn't connecting me and that the searches were coming up "need my resources" or with an error message. She realized I was within my 7 days and offered to refund everything except my tech support, I said no thank you. She then told me there would be a $9.90 fee charged to my account for processing my refund. I told her I wouldn't accept that because I was within my 7 days and no where did it state that. She put me on hold to talk to her supervisor - in the mean time I received an e-mail from her giving me a full refund and not charging me the service fee. She came back on the line and told me that I wouldn't be charged the $9.90 fee. Said it would take between 5-10 business days for it to show up on my statement. Wish me luck. I hope this helps someone! Thank you for your help!

Scammed

I guess I am one that got scammed. I didnt read about them after I paid $40.00. I called them right back and ask for the refund. They told me that they would but to this day they never have. I have been trying for months now and nothing. Everytime I called them they all said the samething. My refund has been issued and I should be getting it. And for me to contact my bank about it. Which I have and the bank has nothing from them. So PLEASE BEWARE To everyone that got the refund back I am happy for you.:bangh:

Which site did you purchase from? Do you have the internet address?

medgirl1850 June 6th, 2009 01:08 PM

It was the site mpsdownloading.com. I went to the limewire.com site and try to download it and it sent me to this site I didnt know much about it so I paid to use it then I seen about not to pay it.

'Normally' most banks will react positively if you approach them in the right manner, specifying that you were scammed & paid for something that was not what they claimed. Offering them URL links to the scam page here might even help; Known Scam Sites (click on link) pointing out to them that the site in question has a history of scamming people. ;)

In this scenario, this might not help but worth a look through: get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members).

I agree with the fact that it would be nice of them to inform you its available for free BUT since frostwire is GPL they can sell it (not sure if they can name it Frostwire though)

GPL allows anyone to sell it, as long as they provide the source-code on demand.

One big tip for people who got 'scammed' and come looking in here : You're the reason they put tags like "dont use microwave to dry baby" on stuff ;)

Think: Its the internetz! Google before you buy :P

Strong Language and Threats Will Get Results

:yahoo:I should have known better considering I go all the way back to the early Napster. But these scammers don' tell you that you are paying for Frostwire, which I already belong to. So I called my bank and they said I hade to wait 5 business days to file a fraud claim. They also told me not to worry I would hot have to pay the 44.01 I got scammed for. I didn't want to wait the 5 days so I wrote to the fraudsters that took my money. I won't tell you all the language I used (LOL) and I did tell them my bank was going to go after them and that I was going to the FBI. I told them I want my f****** money back NOW and they had 24 hours to refund me. I also told them that frauding people would get their merchant account taken away. Merchant accounts aren't easy to get. I had a refund issued the next day.

Don't let them get away with this. They sold you something that they had no authority to do, and that's FRAUD. Your bank has to credit you, even if they don't. And do call the FBI. Also threaten them about their merchant account. Lets put them out of business.

JW

I like your style, you have put one of these scum-bucket criminals firmly in its place, right back into the sewer where they belong.

However, for those of us that do not live in the US the only option that exist is to get our money back via our credit card companies.

Anyway, anyone that can get their money back directly from a scum-sucking scammer is OK in my books.

If you paid for FrostWire click here, you have been scammed, FW is free

:xirokrotima:Hi UK Bob, thanks for the kind words. The refund did go to my bank, not directly to me. The charge has now been removed from my account. I just forced the bottom feeders to do it a little faster. So everyone can still email them, threaten them, call them names and they might get their credit to their bank a little faster. Nothing to lose. Right?

Contact your financial institution right away. Explain what's happened & that you've been scammed into buying a free application. Hopefully they will be able to help you out.

And some of the earlier posts in this thread have info from other scam victims.

I couldn't find much about againstadware.com but there's a bit of info on this page: Introducing: Roguevertising

Good luck - I hope that you can be reimbursed. Let us know how you get on. :)
