If you paid for FrostWire click here, you have been scammed, FW is free

->FrostWire's only web site is http://www.frostwire.com

->FW is free, never pay for it

->You've been scammed? Try to get a refund ASAP!

Two ways:
1) ->ask and re-ask the scammers by email for a refund since they are providing a free product for a charge and that they are lying about 100% legal downloads (DON'T email frostwire@gmail.com, this is OUR legit address, not the scammers addresses)

2) ->if you just "registered" their service, try to stop the money transfer by calling your bank and telling them you've been scammed

Fight back! ->please file a complaint to the FBI with the scammers web site address: http://www.firstgov.gov/Citizen/Topi...et_Fraud.shtml (frostwire.com is NOT the scam website, link the one you registered onto)

Known scammers sites:
allcoolmusic.com
musicinc.cc
mymusicinc.com
mp3downloading.com
filesharingcenter.com
(tell us below if you know another offender)

It is true that GPL permits selling of software, HOWEVER
Those sites are illegal and fraudulous because:
-They do not give access to FrostWire source, as required by the GPL
-They lure new non-experimented users into thinking that a subscription gives them the right of legally downloading copyrighted works (Unlimited songs, movies, Legal) which is totally false, as other P2P activities, respect your country laws
-They don't tell what software users are getting (all 100% free software) and links to official websites
-They don't tell that the only thing they could charge, is the support over the usage of the softwares (a support often better on official web sites and forums)

How they work:
-Big scammers makes many websites to lure as many newbies as they can to pay (for exemple, mymusicinc.com, musicinc.cc and allcoolmusic.com have all the same owner), while softwares have only one official website.
-They pay Google many thousands of dollars for ads that are displayed accordingly to your search keywords or the subjects of a web page you visit.
-Once they get too many frustrated users on one site, the scammers close the site and reopen another one with a different address and different design.
-They make millions while legits software developers most often work for nothing.

Please spread the word and use this thread to share your experiences and exchange ideas about how to get a refund.

They do NOT deserve your money over OTHER's work. Do NOT encourage those parasites.

Fresh Meat

Well

It seems that the scammers are after fresh meat, i.e. using Frostwire to sucker in newbies and novices.

New users beware, parasites and predators are after your money by pretending to have unlimited films, music and games for you to legally download, all you have to do is join their (non-existent) lifetime club for a one off fee.

Truth is they have nothing, except a URL link to freebie P2P software, they want your money and your payment details, and nothing else.

Newbies, remember to research internet sites before parting with your money by checking discussion forums. Do not go by or take any notice of search engine lists, internet or magazine adverts or bogus recommendations.

Another Trusting Person

I'm going to my credit card company to get the money back. They will investigate but find that it is a scam and they are falsely advertising when they say it's all legal downloads.

I think the following link applies to at least one of these sites. The same principle can be applied: get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members) But also do as recommended by et voilà so these sites can hopefully be formally reported against & eventual action taken against. Also most credit card companies have some type of scam/fraud department so make sure you contact the correct department & with luck they'll refund your money.
I think FrostWire needs a section of its own here: Known Scam Sites to show which scam sites are known to offer it.

peepers777 November 9th, 2005 06:11 PM

They almost had me at Hello!

I signed on with those morons today for $49.90. I just got off the phone w/my CC Co. and they replaced the $$ back into my account. Now I'm contacting whoever I can to force inquiries into the Co Coolmusic. Jerks!!! But I was the bigger one for believing what I read. Never again. Thank you all so much for posting this forum, I came across it by accident and you guys saved me that $49.90.

peepers777 November 10th, 2005 02:10 PM

well charge me or not, I'm not payin, when I went to the site and tried to find movies and such all they had was porno crap. Or fim bites. I could not find any of the songs I wanted, so they are total liars as far as I'm concerned and did not fullfill their end of the agreement. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for a service, as long as it does serve me.

Scammed

Well I guess I have to join the scammed club! I paid for a membership to mymusic.com ($33.90). I read the forum messages and immediately went to work to get refund. The following are the steps I took and received my refund within 24 hours.

11/09/05 approx. 11:00 am EST
1) Emailed customer support using my email client requesting full refund (support@mymusicinc.com). I copy and pasted all tranaction information from charge included in charge summary (including mymusic's transaction ID from their confirmation email)

2) Went back to website and submitted email through customer support on the website

3) Called 877-354-0013, which btw puts you in a loop...you will never speak to anyone no matter which choice you make...left message to return call

4) Received refund confirmation email from mymusic.com at approx 1:00 am EST on 11/09/05. Credit was posted to account 11/10/05

I must say that although I don't condone the practice of charging for free services, mymusic.com acted quickly in responding to my request...maybe I was one of the lucky ones.

Thanks for the post alerting us to FW being free!

Scammers are intidimating scammed users

Scammers are plague. Here is the the case of Miss. X we helped over the FW mail account. See how vicious they are. On this case, the the scammer site is allcoolmusic and for now I'll edit scammer email address and name, but I don't think they deserve such protection.

Miss. X to FW support:
Quote:

So a company called Allcoolmusic did indeed scam me out of $35 for your program._ Then when I tried to get in contact with them, they did not respond._ So I filed a complaint on the website you recommended and they have followed up by filing complaints against me and my honest business._ What should I do?_ I cannot even find a phone number for these scummy people and they are sending me really hostile emails._ I have to tell you that it’s a little frightening.
FW support responded to Miss. X:
Quote:

They cannot do anything. They are a bunch of *******s and that's what they do as a living -- leeching hard earned money. If you filled the FBI form and have problems with the scammers, please tell us by email or on the gnutellaforums.com thread I linked you. We will then find a way to help you, but as I said, they are not able to do anything legit legally. Also call you credit card company to cancel your present one, scammers are indeed dangerous about that.
Miss. X later to FW support:
Quote:

I did call my credit card company and had to actually cancel the card because I was afraid that they were going to use it over and over. Can they somehow get my social security number from the card I used?_ I am so freaked out._ _They continue to send me nasty emails and not respond to my question of how to get my money back._ Here is the latest one when I said I was going to file a complaint on that FBI site:
(Scammers email to Miss. X)
Quote:

Likewise....we went ahead and submitted your company, name, phone number and fax machine to the same department of the FBI along with our claims against you. Thanks for screwing us over on our mortgage. oh and when you try and send a threatening letter, don't include your personal and/or company information. thats just silly.

Sincerely,

Hi Melinda, I'm gonna show this email in the gnutellaforums thread, if you allow me to do so, so users can see how really vicious scammers are. No, they can't get your social security number with your CC card. If you want to email me all the threats they sent to you, I can make a special post about that on the forum thread too. People must be more informed about those illegal activities.

et voilà November 15th, 2005 03:33 PM

We won the battle but not the war

Good news, the scammers delinked FW from their software list and instead link to LW 4.9.23 now. This means the FBI reports against those idiots were at least successful in part. I encourage scammed users over other programs like LimeWire, to fight back those profitors! Nobody can't stay neutral in this war.

Kill them all!!!!

comp12 November 20th, 2005 03:22 PM

Hello, I've just been scammed by My Music Inc in which I got a free version of LimeWire (but on the how to section they used FrostWire) when I paid about 50 dollars for a membership and have been trying to get my money back. I've sent a inquiry to them and called my cc company and they provided the number that DJ_Tre got. I tried calling them again, but they said I couldn't do anything about it. They said I had to call My Music Inc about it. What can I do to get my refund?

saxomajic November 24th, 2005 11:03 AM

took my money twice!!!!

Hey guys!

i was looking for a way to refresh the search and found your thread!!

my cc bill arrived today and i was charged $34.95 twice and i remember how now...

when i had filled in the form it asked for all my details several times and i bet thats how they stung me there!

Ive sent 2 emails on there "support" department, first i asked for the second charge to be debited then i read your post and asked for both back or i'l be contacting my cc company..

I don't know if this isnt already on the list but I found this while searching "Frostwire" on Google.

http://filesharingcenter.com

et voilà January 15th, 2006 05:32 PM

Thanks, it will be added to the list of scammers. Filesharing center has been a scam site for a while, specially for LimeWire, but for other apps also.

Ciao

Hi simon4,
Contact your bank/CC company & cancel the transaction. You can report it to their fraud department, too. Some people recommend cancelling the card altogether, check it out with your bank.

Page 1 of this thread has advice on how to deal with these scammers. Here's another thread with advice on how to get a refund from scam sites:

MistressZarabeth March 20th, 2006 06:26 PM

Oh man. I got scammed in Jan 2006 from that stupid site allcoolmusic.com. I joined up on to look for some rare songs. I was gonna cancel out after. When I found out it was Limewire in disguise, I told them I wanted to cancel and I got an email back saying okay, but now here in Feb they took out $40 dollars ($20 in Jan and $20 in Feb) from my Mom's bank and she's upset cuz I had told her it would only be a dollar or so and that our account was cancelled out.

I emailed them again, asking for a number, but they gave me total BS about it for a few days until they sent me to a form. I don't remember my ID I used to pay with becuz I had deleted all my emails from them prior, thinking my account had been cancelled beforehand, so I'm stuck on that and they claimed they would give me a refund, but it never happened, though my account has been cancelled now, but it ****** me off they took $40 dollars out.

I used my Mom's debit card. Is there anyway I can get a refund even though I didn't use a credit card? And how can I get back my transaction ID if I deleted my emails? My Mom said she was going to look @ her statements to see when they took the money out so I can look to see if anything on the statements could help get back our money like an ID or anything like that.

Any advice or links or information would help be greatly! Thanks everybody so much. I hope I'm not too late in getting a refund. Stupid allcoolmusic site.

This company claims that they aren't charging for their service, yet under their rules they cleverly substitute the word with "entitles" . refer to first sentence.

THE SERVICE

The fee assessed by AllCoolMusic.com entitles You to access the location, evaluation, and or recommendation of software products available from the web site and for the installation and technical support provided.

All software recommendations refer to software that is available without charge to individuals at large for specific purposes. The service makes no download speed performance guarantees or the availability of specific files for download on the peer to peer network.

You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all computer hardware, software and communications equipment needed to access the Service. In order to use the Service, You must obtain access to the Internet and pay any service fees associated with such access.

trevor57 July 2nd, 2006 03:05 PM

AllCoolMusic says that the software is free, and when paying you are paying for tech support, not the software .. or something. ******* liars & scammers!!

N00b Eater July 9th, 2006 07:02 AM

Here's a thought.

There are enough legitimate digital download sites to choose from - sites that ensure that the people who make the art you love actually get paid something for their work.

It's kind of ironic to find a forum where a bunch of small parasites are complaining about getting ripped off by a bunch of slightly larger parasites.

Seems to me you're all playing by the same rules - just trying to get something for nothing.

Good luck with getting your refunds.

lmao, your joking me here, right? something for nothing?? YOU DON'T GET SCAMMED IF YOU DON'T PAY, WE PAID!! something for nothing are those that go for frostwire/limewire, etc. and hope to download for completely freee, we paid for these things. i don't see how you can say something for nothing when we obviously paid hoping to do this legally.

Flowerscotland76 October 31st, 2006 10:11 AM

I paid £11.99 for the year with Frostiwre - and my partner has removed the program (he didnt mean to) however, for me to get it back they want a further £11.99 and I am only into my 6th month. How do I get it back without paying £11.99 again. Also - I am really hoping hoping this is not a scam!

Lord of the Rings October 31st, 2006 10:41 AM

For FrostWire of course it's free!!! http://www.frostwire.com/

Sorry to hear you paid for it at a scam site. Can you give the name & address of the site? This may help others. Known Scam Sites (click on link). There's also links there about various places you can make a formal complaint. ;) :)

The more who complain, the sooner those scam sites can be closed down.

More Scammers !

I would like to say a big THANK YOU ! I currently use Limewire for my downloads and I was recently told of Frostwire, so I went to Google and searched for it, after scanning the links I just clicked on the first one, and guess what? they wanted my credit card details, not on their life were they getting those!

So I went back and found you guys, again thank you for setting me straight. I now have a FREE copy of Fostwire on my computer. Happy downloading! :yahoo:

You can add this one to your list of scammers:  :nono:

I got my money back after 2 months

I didn't realize Frostwire was free until a did a little searching on the internet and found this site. I had paid $37 for it though mp3musichq.com in October. After I found out it was a scam I called the 24 hour support line to get my money back. I came right out and said I know the business you are doing is a scam and that I want my money back. He told me that I could not get a refund since it had been 2 months since I downloaded it. I threatened to report them to the FBI and as soon as I said that he was very quick to get me my refund. He said he was going to have to charge me $9.95 for processing fees. I told them that was illigal since I should have never paid for the service in the first place. I threatened with the FBI again and he said he would waive that fee and I ended up getting my $37 back.
I find it very intresting that as soon as a threaten to report them to the FBI they were very quick to give me my money back.
DON'T EVER GO TO MP3MUSICHQ.com IT IS A SCAM!!!!!

frekle22 December 17th, 2006 01:33 AM

mp3musichq.com is also a scam site. They charge you for Frostwire and then tack on a charge for a bogus virus scan sweeper.

dilma15 March 3rd, 2007 09:19 PM

i got scammed also anybody know the number for frostwire i cant get ahold of it for some reason.....

I'm another sucker!

I've been getting ripped off by this mob for over 10 months now  just found it in my bank statement and wondered what it was ended up here.

Thanks for letting me know!:o

Not only just under $10US a month but also a small fee from bank for conversion to $US.

I'm not at all surprised that our banks don't inform us what they may know to be fraudulent activity on our accounts when they benefit from it too!!!:(

I
just wonder how many people never actually check their bank statements to even know that they are being ripped off by these utter *******s.

I'm juist going to accept my loss and get the bank to cancel this activity

walking_disaster July 12th, 2007 10:47 AM

i was scanned too &&
I DOWNLOADED FROSTWIRE FROM REALMUSICNOW.COM
i had no idea i was downloading Frost Wire, if i did i wouldn't have downloaded because i also have LimeWire && it doesn't work...

birdy July 12th, 2007 08:20 PM

Well...if you tell us exactly what the problem is, maybe we can help (saying "it doesn't work" isn't really enough to go on).
:p

walking_disaster July 13th, 2007 03:04 PM

well it'll let me download the songs but it won't play them.
you just go to your library, highlight the song && click launch right?

birdy July 13th, 2007 06:37 PM

Are you using the LW/FW player? Have you tried disabling the player & using another (if so, what other player(s) have you tried)? Have you been able to preview songs during download?

Are you getting any error message(s) when you try to play a song?

walking_disaster July 15th, 2007 11:36 AM

it won't let me preview the songs when they're downloading either.
it's like my speakers don't work or something
&& i know they do...

i haven't tried disabling the player or using something else.
i'm not getting error messages either. :[

walking_disaster July 16th, 2007 01:58 PM

ok well someone on the FW chatroom helped me with it.
i can play them on realplayer && windows media now :]
i still can't play them on the FW/LW player though if that's gonna be a problem....

birdy July 18th, 2007 03:25 AM

To be honest, the LW/FW player is horrible so you're better off using another player anyway:p

But if you're desperate to use the built in player, try this: Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later (just substitute FW for LW here...I'm not going to edit the whole thing;))

walking_disaster July 19th, 2007 01:49 PM

well if i don't need it. :]
i'm fine...
thanks bunchies. :xirokrotima:

i is good.

jennibear July 24th, 2007 08:27 PM

yes i am another of those sad people who has been scammed and paid for something that should have been free in the first place! What a sucker! They have also been taking money every time i download a song onto MP3!!

birdy July 24th, 2007 08:45 PM

jennibear, you need to contact your bank/CC company right away & let them know what's happened. They might advise you to cancel your card.

I don't know how long ago you signed up for the scam deal, but maybe this thread will help. It's referring to LW users but the advice is still good:)
get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members)

marilynnew July 28th, 2007 10:08 AM

Thanks to your posts about scams and the REAL sites FAQ's and info about the true cost of LW Pro, I realized I had also paid $$$ to a site obviously scamming me. Of course, my DL was the actual LW site so how would I know if I hadn't read further? When the bill came in I flagged it and contacted my CC company and they didn't even question it- they immediately credited me for the amount charged. Thank God! I felt like such an idiot to be sucked in like that! These people are really evil and prey on those of us who are "newbies" to all this. BUT...I'm learning!

bassboy August 26th, 2007 05:16 PM

i got ripped off also from musicetc i paid $34.00 and i got "limewire".
