Which file to download
What are the indicators that make it more likely that when you down load programs e.g. M$ *** ***7 the following are less likely to occur 1. The file contains malware 2. After a long down load period of time you try to extract the .rar or.zip file to find it contains nothing or will not even open Really frustrating MAC

OSX user? Best to look for dmg or zip or Toast image files. Only occasionally are they RAR'd. Look for those that have OSX or Mac in their file name.

IMO, there are only Two Types of Files that are Relatively Safe to download from the Gnutella Network.
These would be mp3's and AVI's. Any Program, Game, Zip or Rar Files along with WMA's and maybe ?? .Mov files are Extremly Dangerous. When I was using LW I actually Filtered these File Extensions. .wma, .exe, .rar, .html, .com, .zip, and .mov, Just to be as safe as possible. There are other options other than the GN for downloading said files that are much safer.
