I just tested limewires ultrapeer in combination with phex by running them both and then connecting Limewire to Phex.
When I initiated a search on a subject on limewire I got information from the five ultrapeers. When I did the same via Phex, that means when I sent the same search message with phex to the limewire-client (both used other host-numbers) I didn't get any results. I don't know if it is meant to be like that, but it explains, why I get much more files in Limewire than in phex (they still don't work *g*). I hope it can be explained easily, if not it is a very dangerous development, because limewire harms the network. Besides: iirc is phex the only one, who still uses a host-catcher, that means it is secure against destruction of central servers and it gets a favorite-host-list after some time. Does it also catch all those host, who reply to a search? That would create a very efficient network after some time, because hosts, who share files I want, would be at the top of the host-catcher. |
