Default saving issues

does anybody else have the problem with phex where it will forget to rename a file from the incomplete preivew and it wont transfer it from the partials folder to the sharing folder, so i have to make it the same, it only does this with some songs though with no real reason. Anybody know of a fix? I have version 2.8.6.95

I also have the same problem with audio, video & image files in version 2.8.6.95. There does not seem to be a common denominator and the error appears random.

It would be nice if one of the developers could give us an answer as this problem also occurs in the latest version 2.8.8.97.
More often than not the file is actually complete but there is no way of telling except to play it.

Well if I would have an easy workaround or fix, it would be already available.

The problem is that the call to the rename function of the plattform just failes sometimes. Its possibly a locking/synchronization issues somewhere since it not always occures.

There is a SVN development branch with a changed file handling concept for downloads. It provides a centralized buffer and data writing layer. It will likely solve the problem but could also introduce new problems in other areas (corrupt files, memory overflows etc.), thats why this code is still not available in a release.

But if you like to test it and report problems, which would help us very much, you can access it via SVN at:
https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...-rework-branch

Here you can read more how to use SVN:

Thank you for your response. I like the concept of Phex in that it is not restricted like the free version of Limewire, but this "Incomplete" issue is a real pain.
Having checked that the file is indeed complete, there is nothing one can do with it, such as renaming or moving, as Phex will not release the file until the application is shut down and restarted.
I shall however try your suggestion to see if this resolves my problem.
