Running LW/FW without GUI - possible?

Hi,
I want to run LW/FW but without it's GUI and send it commands via a script (send this download that etc.). Is that possible? Maybe you've already tried that and can direct me where to begin, by any chance?

Are you refering to Linux or Mac (or windows I suppose)?
