:(

Morgwen June 22nd, 2002 02:33 PM

I think not this is the right forum for this poll...

Morgwen

RealBigSwede June 22nd, 2002 02:43 PM

And why not? It says "rants about enything..."
And are you feeling theathen by AG? Don't is was closed down for some days now by RIAA.

Morgwen June 22nd, 2002 03:06 PM

First this is a Gnutella side... AG is no Gnutella client, second this is the rant for the client Xolox!

I will move it to the general Gnutella forum, there isnīt the right place either but it fits better there...

Morgwen

RealBigSwede June 22nd, 2002 03:11 PM

Ok.

Morg, get the stick out of your ***. AudioGalaxy shutting down has a large impact on every p2p network and communtiy, including gnutella.

RealBigSwede June 22nd, 2002 07:28 PM

Thanks, mrgone4662

We are home less and looking for a new palce, We was 20 MILLION strong and who's know mayby here! :(

KayaMan June 23rd, 2002 12:49 AM

AudioGalaxy users are more then welcome!! Morgwen did have a point in that poll is something that can be more general but understand it being here considering the xolox client leads to this forum and AG users being *used* to using forums as their 'channels' will likely be feeling out the forum. You AG users can also join chat :P

Mrgone/Morgwen its not a big deal - just difference in opinion. And yes p2p at large is impacted by the fall of AudioGalaxy. All I can hope is you CHOOSE A GNUTELLA client :)

anyway , I also disagree with AG being the easiest to use :)

The general Gnutella forum "isn't the right place either"?

That was the problem.

Morgwen June 24th, 2002 05:56 AM

Yes because its no Gnutella client and I tried to say him this...

try to post a poll about eDonkey on bearshare.net or a poll about Kazaa on the Donkey forum, what do you think the people will do?

Did I deleted this poll? No I just informed him that this here is a pure Gnutella side and NO general P2P side like zeropaid - get it?

I am missing AG so much-I've just got back and seen that it's gone belly up- I am not a happy chappy!!!

To my eyes, nothing compares. It was so easy to use, I could just queue them up and I knew they would all be there fairly soon. There was also the suggested artist feature that turned me on to lots of great artists.

ursula June 29th, 2002 04:22 PM

Come on you guys.... this is really silly to argue about.....
Morgwen did the right thing and the friendly thing!
He did not delete it - He moved it from where it had no reason to be and put it in the 'least wrong' place. No problems.
Relax. Besides, more people will see it where it is now........

RealBigSwede June 29th, 2002 08:37 PM

To everyone, Thanks For voting in this poll. :) As we can see AG is missed even in the Gnutella circle. :) I must say that Gnutella is very sloooow to people that have 56k modem, in two weeks I have got only 18 songs. I'm sorry that, is lowsy!!! Are we put on an lower scale? Not alowed to download as much as people with higher speed? I read that on an other board that we "are kicked off, because of our speed", it that true? I have suspended my songs I had over 4600 song to share. In two week on AudioGalaxy I would have gotten about 100-150 songs. Yes, I'm conected 24/7. WHY SO SLOoooooooooooooooowwww???? Even Mediaseek and SongSpy is faster. (http://www.mediaseek.pl, http://www.songspy.com) So, my questing is why so slow???? No I don't trying to jump down enyones trouth, just trying to get some answer.
I was told this was a good site. No, I don't have XoloX running longer. It have to work both way I give and I get songs, not only I have to send out song and not get anything back. I'm working on all songs I have I puting in album cover, lyrics, informations and other stuff. So, when other is DL them they get all this info.
OK that's it with thanks and the complaining.
Peace and Love to everyone. Let's get the fu**er at RIAA and lets share our songs. :D

I miss AG!!!!!! That's my second home, even now.

XoloX, nor any other, will ever replace it.

I'm still on AG all the time, at the Nirvana message board. Any AG users who still get on, please feel free to come and talk to me. Me, and a few others, have decided to stay right up until the very end.

evilmegaman July 13th, 2002 10:52 AM

Didn't you have to go to the website to use it?That ain't even a program! It's not even P2P and neither was napster!=P so just who cares about a website this is the time of P2P not audio galaxy spyware!

???? Spyware, I used it for 2 year and I didn't have any spyware!!! the last year I was a gold member. Yes, you went to a website to put in your request, and you then did get you song file. and if you running a program like Ad-Awareyou will not have a problem. And the second thing is that MANY of the p2p is having spyware. Please see Gnutella forum about spyware (click here) for more educations.

Audio galaxy installs Spyware, I am not sure if it is/was optional or not, of course you didnīt have Spyware because you deleted it with ad-aware...

I cant believe I just sat here and read all these posts ... I feel BBS Violated ... lmao

What's the big deal ... all the AG folks will go somewhere ... if gnutella gets some cool .... if fasttrack gets some ... cool ... what difference does it really make anyway. Life goes on. We pay our taxes. And yes ... even P2P filesharing clients die....

Bye bye AG .... Never used ya ... wont miss ya ... but welcome your users to gnutella with 45 Gigs of stuff.

Missing Satellites

Odd.
Excuse my virgin like naivety--this is a new site for me as from tonite---and the reasons for my late arrival here are twofold: Firstly the BBC mentioned your name earlier during a doumentary and secondly and vitally with the demise of Audiogalaxy I needed another source of downloadable music. I didn't feel particular zealous or loyal about AG whilst they were active but in their absence I had an enormous void to fill. I can't believe how churlish you (the moderators) are being about this honest Swedish bloke (a fellow humble gnutella member/user/patron) praising a site and service which frankly was far superior to this and much more popular. I'm glad I've found you but I didn't expect that total devotion to the gnutella cause was obligatory!!!

Not obligatory, just appreciated ;)

Really it's a good idea to try and use multiple networks. In addition to gnutella you may want to try Blubster and eDonkey.

RaaF July 17th, 2002 03:12 PM

And WinMX great for fast music downloads ;)

Peenvogel July 18th, 2002 12:49 PM

Multiple sounds good

Its good to feel appreciated---maybe with further experience I'll come to fully appreciate multiple networks---as I said I'm new here.
By the way, Raaf WinMx is slower than this thro' my good ol'fashioned dial up connection.

Not necessarilly. Make a secondary connection to the network and you'll do fine.

RaaF July 18th, 2002 02:16 PM

Well last night I was using WinMX again and it had been some time I last used it (had to upgrade first to the latest version before getting connected)
And I was quite amazed about some downl. speeds, over 100Kbs! never had that on the Gnutella net.
Therefore I got a bit excited :p
Search results looked verry promissing as well, both quality and quantity.
Perhaps most of the AG users went over there, so even if you're a 56k modem user WinMX seems a good choise.

kenisiafan55 July 19th, 2002 12:10 PM

ok, i know i'm a little late on this, but i very much miss audio galaxy, it was easy to use, and all most all the music files worked at all times, but when i first try zolox, i must say the this is a much better music PvP system.

Syfonic July 21st, 2002 06:13 AM

I like GNucleus more than AG.

Hello!

The loss of AudioGalaxy do affect us Gnutella users therefore this thread is legitimate.

The Gnutella Developers(Especially LimeWire ones) thinks it is of great importance that new fresh content(Uniqe individual files) is constantly added to the GnutellaNet so that it continues to grow in popularity and that Gnutella continue to increase its available data amount.

A common source for music files that have been added to Gnutella is Audio Galaxy.I used to do that meaning whenever I found something on AG that I could not find on Gnutella I would download it from AG and then add it to my Shared Directory for LW and GNutella. This way new and fresh content was added to the Gnutella network.

Now when AG is gone as a source for new fresh content to Gnutella it is a threat to the expansion of Gnutella.

But hopefully many of the previous AG users decides to use any of the Gnutella client and bring their files to the GnutellaNet.But I suspect that primarily most of them will try Fast Track first and possibly Direct Connect since they have centralized index of files and I thing that previous AG users preferr that method but if the RIAA gets to them then Gnutella will probably get all those files to join the GnutellaNet.

I miss AudioGalaxy but if Gnutella would dissappear(Not likely) it would be a dissaster!

Well, then they had better get to work on a client that has a pretty gui, ads, and a touch of spyware thrown in for good measure. That seems to be the only way that gnutella and LimeWire will sucessfully attract the sheep.

Joakim .... lets put something in perspective ... gnutella going bye bye is not a disaster. The way things are going its an inevetability ... now ... Nuclear ware betwen India and Pakastan ... that would be a disaster. Gnutella going away ... no disaster .... there will be something else that comes along to occupy our time other than file sharing.

Hello!

Yes I agree the whining we can do whitout!

I already thinks that LW's GUI looks good but ofcourse there is never something that cannot be done even better.

Yes it would not be a dissaster if Gnutella dissapeared and was replaced by something new and even better in the future. But if it goes under because of Lawyers then it would indeed be a dissaster not a physical one like an earthquake but a dissater none the less to democracy. It would further strenghten the power of the international media conglomerates that would feel even more confident and start ruling the world and soon become even more powerfull then national Governments and their laws. What a nightmare that would be!.
