![]() Hi! I am a long-time gnutella user, on and off, and LimeWire has been my client of choice, but lately I can't seem to find as many files as I used to. It used to be that I would type in for some sizable movie files (50MB-700MB), and find an abundance of sources every time. Now, I am left with nothing. I have tried Morpheus too, after hearing good things, and it has also left me with slim pickings. Please advise as to what client and settings I need to find files! Thank you for any help you can give me! - ![]() ![]() |

![]() What you are probably really looking for is the best network, - and gnutella isn't it, - especially not for movies. Try edonkey ( www.edonkey2000.com ) or mldonkey (can't produce a link right now, ask google). |

![]() Undoubtably, Shareaza is the #1 Gnutella Client out right now. It's a Gnutella pioneer, has the cleanest interface, using partial file downloading (like eDonkey) and is always being updated. Get it www.shareaza.com |

![]() I tried eDonkey and the whole logging on to different servers part confused me - I wound up in an area with all spanish files, and that didn't help me. I have yet to try shareaza because everyone seems to be saying that there are very few users, and that has led me to believe that there are few files available. Somehow I downloaded Kazaa Lite and it is AMAZING. I've downloaded about 7-8 Gigs in the past 2 days, and there is an ample supply of files. It looks like the old Morpheus (did they clone Morpheus or was it the other way around), but whatever it is it is great. Does anyone think there is any way for me to beat Kazaa? And is Kazaa a Gnutella client or is it separate networks? |

Kazza is faster, as in results, because it is centralized. Believe me, it won't be here for long. The RIAA is pumping up it's lawyers with steriods, and will be cannon-balling them Kazza's way pertty soon. Gnutella cannot be controlled. |

I'm not trying to promote Kazaa or FastTrack. I just don't think inaccurate information helps anyone. I agree with your assesment of their future. The court battles will do them in. |

If Kazza's HQ was nuked, would the network still be running? |

![]() The way in which you used "centralized" -- explaining why Kazaa provides more search hits -- implies a lot more than a central organization being in control. I don't know what they've done since Morpheus was forced off the network, but prior to that the only centralized thing was the host cache. So, if "Kazaa HQ" was nuked, you're right, the network would most likely stop functioning. But that one "central" aspect of the network has nothing to do with why Kazaa, in general, provides faster results. It's like I said before, you get faster results with Kazaa because their version of Ultrapeer technology is more mature than gnutella and all the clients behave in exactly the same way. That, and, of course, the several million users. |
