The way in which you used "centralized" -- explaining why Kazaa provides more search hits -- implies a lot more than a central organization being in control. I don't know what they've done since Morpheus was forced off the network, but prior to that the only centralized thing was the host cache. So, if "Kazaa HQ" was nuked, you're right, the network would most likely stop functioning. But that one "central" aspect of the network has nothing to do with why Kazaa, in general, provides faster results. It's like I said before, you get faster results with Kazaa because their version of Ultrapeer technology is more mature than gnutella and all the clients behave in exactly the same way.
