Yeah, I dared to post a link to that article on /. and NYTimes on the GDF. Since its actually off topic for the GDF, I guess I might as well add my comments about it here...

Here's the response from Greg Bildson to the message I posted on the GDF:

Quote:
Folks,

This is off topic but does deserve a response. Please don't jump to
conclusions with the limited facts that you have access to.

We are really not bad people. We have no interest in doing anything
dishonorable. These press articles really don't tell the whole story. They
just combine together a few interesting pieces of information. In fact, we
have been prodding people to get this issue fixed for a while now.

As we were quoted in that NYTimes article -

"We're not interested in stealing any Web site's revenue," said Greg
Bildson, chief operating officer for LimeWire. "We know that this is sort of
a new and sort of strange area, but we're interested in doing the right
thing."

This is in fact a true statement. The other quote was from a forum post by
another developer. It was a statement from the past when we first learned
about this issue. We have told TopMoxie to fix this a few times and they
have told us that the fix has been implemented and is in testing.

We stand by our quote above.
I remember that with the ClickTillUWin incident, they made a similar promise that something like that wouldn't again, by properly researching who they plan to partner with.

I don't feel like trolling, but this kind of thing DOES affect other Gnutella users/developers as well...
