Exclamation List of IPs to add to your BLOCK / DENY lists !

Dear Fellow Gnutella Users:

Here is a list of IPs to add to your BLOCK / DENY lists:

63.240.*.* - Symantec (www.symantec.com)
63.241.*.* - Symantec (www.symantec.com)
63.242.*.* - Symantec (www.symantec.com)
65.160.127.* - Overpeer (www.overpeer.com)
65.217.219.* - Mediaforce (www.mediaforce.com)
128.121.*.* - BSA (www.bsa.org)
128.241.*.* - NetPD (www.netpd.com)
207.155.*.* - Vidius (www.vidius.com)
207.46.*.* - Microsoft (www.microsoft.com)
208.225.90.* - RIAA (www.riaa.com & www.riaa.org)
209.67.*.* - Motion Picture Association (www.mpaa.org)
216.122.*.* - Ranger Online (www.rangerinc.com)

The companies & organizations on this list are, for one reason or another, considered threats to the P2P community. Many of them are responsible for issuing Cease & Desist / Copyright Violation notices, which have resulted in the shutting down of P2P users' Internet accounts (and sometimes legal prosecution). Microsoft and Symantec have been added because recently they took some poor girl to court and got her 11 years in prison for pirating software. Pirating software is wrong, but in my opinion Windows isn't worth 1 day of someone's life, letalone 11 years. Besides, would you ever want someone with a Microsoft IP snooping around your machine!?

I am in no way suggesting that you will be completely safe if you add these IPs to your BLOCK / DENY lists. More likely than not at least one of these companies uses secret IP addresses to do their dirty work. I am, however, suggesting that you will be safer if you apply these.

Good luck,

Chat

P.S. Keep your eyes open for suspicious IPs and please add your own discoveries to this list !
