i am new to gnutella. i have found that only a very small percentage of my download requests are available. as few as 1 out of 10 requests even begins to download and, more often than not, the download is prematurely terminated. is this to be expected?

Of course this is bad but this is only because
there are not enough people who are willing to share files. This causes an overload of existing download ressources so you get in a queue and can't download. Hopefully it will get better once there are more sharers. |

ya there's really nothing you can do about it. usually a client will have some sort of rating system for the avaliability of the file. so always try to download from that file with the highest rating.

There have been a lot of threads of users complaining about not achieving to download anything. Sadly there's not much to do about it, just share your files, and expect the rest to do the same. There is no other network that depends so much on its users to exist such as Gnutella.
