Question Preventing Uploads

Despite setting the the Upload bandwidth to 0, and the Uploads per Person and Maximum Upload Slots to 0 I still seem to have lots of outgoing connections happening. While I appreciate that the whole idea of Limewire is to both "give and receive" I pay my internet connection service for both downloads and uploads - therefore it becomes very costly when half the world is downloading from me. What am I missing here - how do I stop the uploads. The message in the bottom left corner says "Sharing 0 Files" but when I click on Connections I see heaps of uploads happening!! What's going on here?????

PFS--partial filesharing. Others are also getting pieces of files you are downloading. Your downloads get really poor when you can't take advantage of PFS, and the minimum you can set in upload bandwidth is actually 25%

If you aren't ashamed to *really* be a low-life leech, turn PFS off in the options.

Default PFS

Just checked that and found that is turned off too. Any other ideas. I'm not wishing to freeload - it's just that I don't seem to have any limit on my uploading. Could end up costing me hundreds of dollars per month.

Ah--I just re-read your first post. Connections are not uploads.

A certain amount of traffic is needed in order to be connected to the network. The bandwidth you see being used in the Connections pane is for searches sent, receivied, and being passed on.

Check your bandwidth stats to see what bandwidth you are actually using. The HTTP results shoud show 0 in your case
