Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online.

10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban.

13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts.

14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam.

15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Hmmm......I would just like to know, for example, if someone was caught with this by the FBI, how long would it take the FBI to come to their house and start siezing evidence or send a letter in the mail saying they have to go to court?

Thanks

Exclamation It's Illegal

United States
In the United States, child pornography is prohibited under both federal and state laws with some state laws including more or less restrictive definitions compared with federal law. Under federal law, child pornography is defined as visual depiction of minors (i.e. under 18) engaged in a sex act such as intercourse, oral sex, or ************ as well as the lascivious depictions of the genitals. Various federal courts in the 1980s and 1990s have concluded that "lewd" or "lascivious" depiction of the genitals does not require the genitals to be uncovered. Thus, for example, a video of underage teenage girls dancing erotically, with multiple close-up shots of their covered genitals, can be considered child porn.

Questions arose during the 1990s as to whether depictions of mere nudity of minors - such as those found in some nudist magazines and videos - were legal under federal child porn laws. A court case in 1999 determined that mere nudity involving minors does not come under the federal definition of child porn, nor does it necessarily qualify as obscene, as the Supreme Court had ruled previously that mere nudity in and of itself does not constitute obscenity. This ruling does not specifically address state laws, which may differ. For example, broader definitions in some states have created controversy when parents were arrested for taking photographs in which their small children were depicted nude during usual daily activities, such as bathing.

Further complicating the issue in the U. S. is that there is no clear legal definition in federal or state law as to what exactly constitutes a "lewd" or "lascivious" exhibition. In addition, these terms are often to be interpreted according to "contemporary community standards." Defining the standards of a community where residents come from a wide variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and where moving from place to place is commonplace so that the nature of a community is continually changing, has proved extremely challenging.

There's that (question) of the "intent" of the cp material. Or, what was the "intent" of making it, having it-

I have already been able to get sufficient ID to pass to interpol and some have been prosecuted already. more will follow if more IT experts take the trouble to wipe these porn merchants. They are making more money than the legal clean sites. Worst of all there is no way to protect the innocent.
I like your thinking mate! I try to download a movie (not porn) and it opens a CP pic, SICK! Worst thing was , my 2 and a half year old son was sitting beside me at the time, i got the IP's and sent them off to the ASACP.

The more of these disgusting sons of bitches the Feds know about the better.

I think most of us find it sick. But doesn't "limewire" start with you and me? The problem is too big to put on LW, just us little folks can make a big difference in this sick sh*t if we junk it, and in the least NOT d/ling the barbaric filth-

Yeah.....true. I would suggest not even downloading porn on Limewire or any video that seems to be fishy. It is different if you download something that is labeled child porn and you INTEND on viewing it, and clicking on something completely different and then viewing it and finding it to be child pornography....especially if you are sitting there downloading a cartoon or something for your 8 year old child and then it pops up as the sickest stuff that parents would never want their kids seeing their entire life.....but the sickos are all around on LimeWire, that is why I have put the whole program down for downloading adult content because it just isn't worth it because you have a chance of getting arrested or getting stuff that you don't really want to even look at.....but someone out there thinks that you do because you downloaded it, like the feds being one...

I suggest just looking on google or some other sites that have free porn like thehun.com or any other site that is free of charge porn, they are all around the web, and it is very rare to find child pornography because the feds bust child pornography sites very fast, if you search for a porn video or picture on google you will not find any cp content....that is why I use it.

This is one thing that is a universal crime to some extent everywhere....but I knew a perv once who taped (hidden) guests going to his bathroom...this sick twisted lump got it when the cable modem guy came over to check out his modem and found footage of young girls (daughter and friends) going to BR/shower, without being aware of this camera...He got a warning! A warning!

In the US it is VERRRRY bad to get caught with ANYTHING on your computer that even hints at CP... It doesn't even have to be genuine either, a convincingly youthful looking 18 yr old in a video or stills who claims to be underage is just as bad as the real thing! Here's another example of how screwey it can get. A former school chum of mine who lived in New York City was 23 at the time he was engaged to his fiance. She was 17 at the time. Now in NY state 17 is the "age of consent" which means it was perfectly legal for him to have as much sex with her as he felt like... His BIG mistake was to videotape some of their intimate moments... That you see was illegal... He just got out of prison last year... Spent 5 years there... If you are gonna down porno or anything else for that matter off of Limewire or any other place, I strongly recommend you get an external slave HD and use it for downloading exclusively... This way if you do get stuck with some nassty stuff in a DL you can use a HD scrubber on it and not affect your master drive... Just food for thought... Cheers, Cappy...

Watchers of KP and makers of KP disgust people more then serial killers. A prime example of this is how hard the FBI works to throw those guys in prison. And you get a long a** prison sentence just for having one pic of a minor showing any hint of sexual innuendoes on your comp.

I ran into KP once through a false download and by accident, after that I cleaned out my computer twice. Even though everything is deleted I have this shady feeling that the crap is somewhere still on my hard drive. I'm getting a new computer and the end of this month and I plan on incinerating my old one.
