I was looking at the extra options in the Limewire client and stumbled upon the Proxy part. Are the downloads 'AND' uploads anonymous if you fill in your proxy details and activate it?
Somebody who knows this? Jeff |

AFAIK said proxy configurations just don't work....
I have tried the exact same proxy server I was using on DC++, and it failed to work with limewire... in theory your assumptions are correct, but I for one have had no success is utilitizing said settings |

interesting...
I have tried socks5 proxies before with LW, and they appeared not to work, even though the exact same proxy setting worked in DC++...a post made by LOTR a few days ago got me interested in this subject again, so I decided to do a more in depth analysis... in a nutshell, I guess I was having some weird problem before (weird because a proxy addy/port worked on one app, yet not on LW) because at this point I have a proxy working (correctly I hope) in LW and things seem just fine... the biggest hint I can give to using any proxy is to find one with the lowest response time if you want any decent speeds...some proxies, though viable and working, are horrendously slow, and others seem to have little if any effect on downloading speeds... |
