Default Using Dedicated Server for P2P

Okay I have files I'd like to host but allow more then just my server can allow, to transfer to others having multiple servers.

I see sellers offer dedicated hosting, and some with Linux, or XP, can a program like LimeWire be installed, and setup, remotly with the server info etc?

Pretty much I am asking... Will it work??

To use a good P2P program on your server, you need access to be actually able to run applicatiosn on that server (shoudl be root access, AFAIK). I'd recommand you using a program like gtk-gnutella on Unix based servers and somethign like Shareaza on Windows based servers (because it is able to operate several networks at a time).

If you are especially interested in running a G2 (also known as "MP"/"Mikes protocol") application, you might want to try out Sharelin (for Unix derivated OSs) for your hosting, a very minimal G2 client with minimal ram and CPU requirements.

Another thing to look at is if they allow P2P programs. Many dedicated and shared servers do not as they are only meant for webpages etc. Pretty much I would check for the ones that allow BitTorrent... Maybe even ask before making any contract.
