I installed the packages java-1.1.8v1-24.i386.rpm, java2-1.3.1-85.i386.rpm, javadoc-1.1.3-65.i386.rpm, and javarunt-1.1.7v3-41.i386.rpm using YAST. I rebooted (just in case).
Then I created the link (ln -s /usr/lib/jre1.3.1 /usr/lib/jre) like I read on the other site. It didn't work, so I tried installing LimeWire using the tarball (tar -zxvf LimeWireLinux.tgz) and got an error message (./runlime.sh: java: command not found) What more do I need to do to get Java in my path? eric |

by the way, my path looks like this:
$PATH bash: /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/bin:/usr/lib/java/bin:/usr/games/b in:/usr/games:/opt/gnome/bin: java is in my path, so I don't know why it won't work |

yes, java is in your path.
/usr/lib/java by default points to jdk1.1.8 (on SuSE systems). Make the /usr/lib/java symlink point to your jre. |
