Lightbulb Just A Thought...

More information otherwise you are just wasting space. Some of us newbies would like to know ourselves. Details give us an ideal of what we are getting ourselves into or out.

Default Not Anymore, Well...It Really Never Did!

This program IMHO is THE best program of p2p for the linux OS! That is once you get it installed on your system. Before that your opinion will be in accord with the original post owner of this thread. I have the solution and the cure. Just look for any other thread with my name and you shall find salvation. For best results, go to my own post titled "I Have the Solution to All Install Problems". That is a pretty big boast to make but I haven't been proven otherwise.

Wink ZeroG sucks, not Limewire

the zerog install anywhere product isn't exactly enhancing the limewire experience. the unpack-and-run .tgz version works reliably, and takes about 10 seconds to 2 minutes depending on your typing speed and experience. on the other hand, the zerog installer took much longer, and there was at least one moment of progerss bar stoppage so long i was about to kill it when it took off again. when zerog was done, it had failed to create launchers in any of my installed window managers, so no was time saved there.

if it can be as simple as unpack-and-run, why pay good money to zerog but not use rpm or apt, which are both already adored by so many linux users? someone tell me where the added value is, please.

can't understand why the limewire developers would want their fine product associated with the zerog product. IMO, the install anywhere product isn't all that impressive on any platform (just glance at any platform's limewire forum for evidence of this suckitude), and management at zerog is ethically bankrupt (different story).

I share your view on this installer. I have had nothing but bad experience with it myself! It gets kind of redundant to create or figure out a work around! The ol' tar ball is tried and true. I guess the installer must somehow come packaged with a uncompressor of ti's own design but the binary doesn't seem to work on a gcc3.1.1 compiled system.
