Unhappy Installing LimeWire: libc.so.6 No such file or directory

Hello, I've just downloaded 'LimeWire' but I've got problems installing it
When I run the bin file I get:
"error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Although I do have "libc.so.6", when I do a "locate libc.so.6" in the console I get: "/lib/libc.so.6" and it's not a broken link or something..
Can someone help me with this??
I use MandDrake Linux, version 8.2
Thanks!

I just don't use LimeWire. If you need to use a code create a symlink to one of the .sh files. I use those instead, personally. I have the same setup and can not use LimeWire either. runLime.sh works for me.

Or are you talking about the installer, LimeWire.bin? Let us see if we can fix this. Do you have libgcj and/or gcc-java installed on your system?
YOu can try removing those two but first let us try something else first. When you type this command:

which java

What is your output? Is it the version of java that you want? If it is, then remove those two packages that I had mentioneed earlier and then try to installl the package again.

The only quick and dirty work around is not to use the installer at all but the tgz from this link:

That worked great for me! I was lucky to find
your post about the tgz file. Only one glitch:
I had to edit the runLime.sh file:

% diff runLime.sh.sav runLime.sh
14c14
< java -jar RunLime.jar
---
> java -jar LimeWire.jar

Thanks again.

No, thank you. I will add that to the installation and troubleshooting howto. I am currently trying to find the source of that error as I discovered on my latest cooker of Linux Mandrake. I have been pouring over the LimeWireLinux.bin file but I have been unsuccessful at locating where the source of the problem truly is. I've noticed that I think it strongly has something to do with the basesystem: ls, dirname, basename, and a few other commands listed in the error with libc6.so.0 error outputs.
