I had LimeWire (free version) installed on my Laptop, running SuSE Linux 7.3, 8.0. Now I made a fresh Setup with SuSE Linux 8.1 and bought the commercial LimeWire and I just cannot istall this thing. I wonder what the heck is going wrong here. See attached file for details. Any hints welcome. TIA joergb
News: 26.11. Ok, I tried some things and will work on this if I have the time for... I copied from SuSE 7.3 Disks (you may use the ftp-server) these files to /usr/lib libc.so.6 librt.so.1 libpthread.so.0 libdl.so.2 -- The install script seems to accept those files, so I think this is some kind of a version conflict. Now I'm running into java errors, but I will report any news if I get along with this thing. CU, joergb. Last edited by joergb; November 26th, 2002 at 01:46 PM. |

When you get this error message are you installing LimeWire as root or as a user?

Be nice if someone looked at this from limewire. Its not like there arent enough posts on this news groups about this.
It seems to be path related. Suse seems to be oblivious of the problem too. Any good alternatives? |

open your Limewire installation file
(e.g. LimeWireLinux.bin) with your favorite text editor. find the lines : # glibc floating stack problem on Linux if [ `uname -s` = Linux ] then case `uname -r` in 2.[456]*) LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL ;; esac fi just comment out these lines or unset LD_ASSUME_KERNEL have fun! |
