I don't think Mandrake is the problem. If you have followed the instructions at Sun and its not a spelling problem I'm out of answers, sorry.

Don't rename the installer to match the filename, change the filename to match the installer. The steps on the Sun website is outdated by a couple subversions of Java. The steps <i>will</i> get Java on your computer.
If Linux sucks, why aren't you using Windows? |
