 First things first, I believe you were trying to say Java version 1.3.1 and NOT 1.1.3, correct? I have 1.4 beta installed, and I highly recommend it. Next, type "java -version" into a console (in ANY directory) and see what comes up. If you see the version of java that you recently installed (which should be at LEAST 1.3.1), then you're all set. If not, then java isn't installed properly. As for the icon, for some reason, the newer version don't seem to make an icon anymore. You can of course, easily make your own.  |
